SCHOOLS EDUCATION PROGRAM (SEP)
We educate to empower and encourage children, youth and adults to recognize the importance of making healthy choices, in the context of voluntary abstinence from alcohol, tobacco, caffeine and harmful drugs, because each choice they make has consequences. The educational materials are designed to meet the developmental needs of specific age groups.
The Content Inter-alia Includes:
- The immediate effects of alcohol, tobacco, and drug use on different parts of the body, including risks of coma or fatal overdose;
- The long-term consequences — how and why drugs can be addictive and make users lose control of their lives;
- The reasons why drugs are especially dangerous for growing bodies;
- The problems that alcohol and other illegal drugs cause not only to the user, but the user’s family and world.
The Mind Matters program target learners from Grade 1 to Grade 12. The materials are designed to help learners understand the effects of drug misuse on the brain and body.
